INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR JUSTICE: April 2-4, 2021 International Grup Yorum Solidarity Concert: April 5 , 2021 The traditional Symposium of people's struggle against oppression and all forms of injustice will be held from 2 to 4 April. This year it is going to be an on-line event due to the restrictions related to the pandemics. – What is the Symposium? The Symposium is an annual forum of progressive organizations and individuals which discusses current issues of resistance to oppression, common strategies and connects individual struggles into one big international struggle. – What is this year's Symposium about? This year's event is inspired by the struggle of Turkish hunger strikers who fell martyr in their resistance for justice last year. All of them had a hard struggle to gain fair trials, right to perform their songs and the right to carry out their legal profession. The event will take 3 days focusing on individual topics, and each dedicated to a martyr: Day 1 for the Political Prisoner Mustafa Koçak Day 2 for the People's Lawyer Ebru Timtik Day 3 for the Musicians of Grup Yorum Helin Bölek and İbrahim Gökçek 72 participants (including 19 lawyers) from 25 countries will cover the topics of solidarity, experiences of oppression and the resistance in their countries. The whole event will be concluded with a concert by revolutionary musicians on the Day 4, on April 5. – What themes will be discussed? Day 1 for the Political Prisoner Mustafa Koçak, will be dedicated to political events, analysis and political prisoners. Among them Mumia Abu Jamal, whose current critical condition will be reflected live from the USA by Prison Radio. Further there will be contributions reporting on the actual situation in many European, Asian and Latin American countries, such as Serbia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Palestine, Spain, Greece, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Peru, France, Ukraine/Donbass, Ireland and Turkey. Day 2 for the People's Lawyer Ebru Timtik will cover the struggle of revolutionary lawyers, the legal situation in different countries and the principles of defense and also the attacks on civil rights and defense. Contributors are ELDH, IADL, AED and People's Law Office (Turkey). Day 3 for the Musicians of Grup Yorum Helin Bölek and İbrahim Gökçek, will aim to constitute a Front of artists for alternative and revolutionary art. The participants include a number of musicians and bands from France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia and Bulgaria. Spain will be represented by the lawyer of the recently imprisoned Catalanian rap-musician Pablo Hasel. – Who is the organizer of the symposium? The event is organized by the Anti-Imperialist Front – an international organization which–by the means of solidarity–aims to unite oppressed people, progressive and revolutionary forces into a common front against imperialism and in the construction of the new just world. – What about the language of the Symposium? The whole event will include simultaneous translation in 7 languages: English, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Russian.
